Laura Jones’ paintings explore the complexity of youth and femininity, with the artist’s friends and acquaintances as subjects. The works represent a search for beauty in the unique ways young women build their identities in an emotionally transitory time of life.

A Master of Art (Printmaking) graduate of the College of Fine Arts UNSW, Laura Jones has been a finalist in the 2008 Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship and winner of the 2007 Mosman Art Prize Young Emerging Artist Award. In 2009 Laura was short listed for ‘Off the Wall’ Competition as part of Art Sydney 2009 and won the Coastal Arts Incentive Award at the FEHVA Arts Festival.

A selection of Laura’s works will feature in Mori Gallery’s forthcoming Mirrors exhibition including this one and two more which Laura is keeping as a surprise!
